श्री शिव कालभैरवाष्टकम्Shri Shiv Kaalabhairavaashtakam
काशी के अधिपति, संहार एवं रक्षा दोनों के परम अधिष्ठाता भगवान श्री कालभैरव — जिनके स्मरण मात्र से भय दूर होता है, पाप नष्ट होते हैं और साधक को शुद्धता, निर्भयता एवं आत्मबल की प्राप्ति होती है। यह कालभैरवाष्टकम् स्तोत्र, उनकी तांडवगति, करुणा, भैरवमूर्ति और साक्षात शिवस्वरूप की भावपूर्ण स्तुति है। इसका नित्य पाठ साधक को सहज ही शिव-पद की ओर अग्रसर करता है।
मैं काशीपुराधिपति कालभैरव की वंदना करता हूँ, जिनके पावन चरणों की सेवा स्वयं इंद्रदेव भी करते हैं। जो सर्प को यज्ञोपवीत के रूप में धारण करते हैं, जिनके मस्तक पर चंद्र सुशोभित है, जो करुणा के सागर हैं, और जिन्हें नारद एवं अन्य योगीजन पूजते हैं। वे दिगंबर स्वरूप, परम शिवस्वरूप हैं।
जिनका तेज करोड़ों सूर्य के समान है, जो इस भवसागर से पार कराने वाले परम तत्व हैं। जिनका कंठ नील है, जो इच्छित फल देने में समर्थ हैं, और त्रिनेत्रधारी हैं। जो मृत्यु के भी स्वामी हैं, कमल-नयन हैं, त्रिशूलधारी हैं और अक्षर (अविनाशी) हैं — उन कालभैरव का मैं नमन करता हूँ।
जो शूल, अंकुश, पाश और दण्ड धारण किए हुए हैं, जो समस्त सृष्टि के आदि कारण हैं, जिनका वर्ण श्याम है, जो स्वयं आदिदेव हैं, जो निराकार, अजर-अमर और रोगों से रहित हैं। जो महाप्रचंड हैं, प्रभुत्वशाली हैं, और विचित्र तांडव के प्रेमी हैं — उन कालभैरव को मैं श्रद्धापूर्वक नमन करता हूँ।
जो भक्तों को भोग और मोक्ष दोनों देने वाले हैं, जिनका स्वरूप अत्यंत मनोहर है, जो भक्तवत्सल हैं और समस्त लोकों में व्याप्त हैं। जिनकी कमर पर बंधी स्वर्णमयी किंकिणियाँ मनोहारी ध्वनि करती हैं — उन काशीपति कालभैरव को मैं भजता हूँ।
जो धर्म के रक्षक हैं, अधर्म के मार्ग का नाश करने वाले हैं। जो कर्मबंधन से मुक्त करते हैं, और सच्चा परम सुख प्रदान करते हैं। जिनका अंग-प्रत्यंग स्वर्णवर्णी सर्पों से अलंकृत है — उन परमेश्वर कालभैरव का मैं प्रेमपूर्वक स्मरण करता हूँ।
जिनके चरण रत्नजटित पादुकाओं से प्रकाशित रहते हैं, जो नित्य, अद्वितीय, हमारे प्रिय ईश्वर एवं निर्विकार स्वरूप हैं। जो मृत्यु के गर्व को चूर्ण करते हैं, और अपनी कराल दंष्ट्रा से भक्त को जन्म-मरण से मुक्त करते हैं — उन कालभैरव को मैं नमन करता हूँ।
जिनकी अट्टहास गर्जना ब्रह्मा द्वारा निर्मित सृष्टि की गति को भी रोक देती है, जिनकी एक दृष्टि ही पापों का नाश कर देती है, जो उग्र शासनकर्ता हैं। जो आठों सिद्धियाँ देने वाले हैं और जिनके गले में कपालों की माला है — उन भैरव की मैं आराधना करता हूँ।
जो समस्त भूतगणों के अधिपति हैं, जो अमोघ कीर्ति प्रदान करते हैं। जो काशीवासियों के पुण्य और पाप का परिमार्जन करते हैं, जो नीति-मार्ग के ज्ञाता, सनातन, और सम्पूर्ण जगत के स्वामी हैं — उन कालभैरव को मैं बारंबार प्रणाम करता हूँ।
कालभैरवाष्टकं पठंति ये मनोहरं ज्ञानमुक्तिसाधनं विचित्रपुण्यवर्धनम् ।
जो भी भक्त इस मनोहर कालभैरवाष्टकम् का श्रद्धा से पाठ करता है, वह ज्ञान, मोक्ष और पुण्य की प्राप्ति करता है। उसके शोक, मोह, दरिद्रता, लोभ, क्रोध और संताप समाप्त हो जाते हैं। और वह निश्चित ही भगवान कालभैरव के चरणों में स्थान प्राप्त करता है।
Lord Shri Kalabhairava, the guardian and presiding Lord of Kashi, represents both divine protection and the dissolution of negativity. According to Hindu religious tradition, remembrance of Lord Kalabhairava helps dispel fear, purify the mind and awaken inner courage. The Kalabhairavashtakam is a deeply devotional hymn praising His majestic movement, compassionate nature, formidable Bhairava form and identity as a manifestation of Lord Shiva. Its sincere recitation is traditionally regarded as a sacred Sadhana leading the devotee towards purity, fearlessness and deeper devotion to Lord Shiva.
I worship Lord Kalabhairava, the Supreme Guardian of Kashi, whose sacred lotus feet are served even by Indra, the king of the Devas. He wears a serpent as His sacred thread, bears the crescent moon upon His head and is an infinite source of compassion. The revered Sage Narada and great Yogis bow before Him. He is Digambara, clothed by the directions themselves, and is the divine manifestation of Lord Shiva.
I worship Lord Kalabhairava, whose radiance shines like millions of suns and who guides devotees across the ocean of worldly existence. He is Nilakantha, the Three-Eyed Lord who fulfils the righteous wishes of His devotees. He is the conqueror of time and death, lotus-eyed, the bearer of the Trishul and the eternal, imperishable Reality.
I bow with devotion to Lord Kalabhairava, who holds the Trishul, axe, noose and staff in His sacred hands. He is the primordial cause of creation, dark-complexioned, the ancient Divine Lord, imperishable and untouched by illness or decay. Possessing immense power and majestic authority, He delights in the wondrous cosmic Tandava.

I worship Lord Kalabhairava, who blesses devotees with both Bhukti, the righteous fulfilment of worldly needs, and Mukti, spiritual liberation. His divine form is beautiful and glorious, and He is ever compassionate towards His devotees. He pervades all worlds, while the golden bells adorning His waist produce a captivating and auspicious sound.
I lovingly remember Lord Kalabhairava, the protector of Dharma and destroyer of the path of Adharma. He releases devotees from the binding effects of Karma and grants true peace and spiritual well-being. His divine form is beautifully adorned with radiant serpents resembling golden ornaments.
I bow to Lord Kalabhairava, whose sacred feet shine with the brilliance of jewel-studded sandals. He is eternal, incomparable, the beloved chosen deity of His devotees and completely untouched by impurity. He destroys the pride of death and, through His formidable form, grants freedom from fear and the bondage of repeated birth and death.
I worship Lord Kalabhairava, whose mighty laughter resounds through the cosmic creation formed by Lord Brahma. A single compassionate glance from Him is traditionally believed to purify accumulated wrongdoing. He is the powerful guardian of divine order, the bestower of the eight Siddhis and the formidable Lord adorned with a garland of skulls.

I repeatedly bow to Lord Kalabhairava, the leader of all Bhutaganas and the bestower of noble renown. He is traditionally revered as the divine guardian who examines and purifies the Karma of those residing in Kashi. He is the knower of the path of righteousness, the eternal ancient Lord and the sovereign protector of the entire universe.
Kalabhairavashtakam Pathanti Ye Manoharam Jnana Mukti Sadhanam Vichitra Punya Vardhanam.
According to the traditional Phalashruti, devotees who recite this beautiful Kalabhairavashtakam with sincere faith progress towards spiritual knowledge, liberation and the accumulation of sacred merit. Its devotional recitation is believed to help overcome sorrow, delusion, helplessness, greed, anger and inner suffering. Such devotees ultimately attain refuge and nearness at the sacred feet of Lord Kalabhairava.
